Evidence-Based Approaches to Lactation in Substance Use Disorders

This recorded program will explore evidence-informed approaches toward supporting lactation in the context of substance use disorders and recovery. Participants will gain practical tools - rooted in harm reduction, evidence-based medicine and trauma-informed care to design and implement hospital protocols, effectively counsel patients and promote realistic and patient-centered decision-making for parents affected by substance use disorders (SUDs).

Target Audience: Nurses, physicians, doulas, community health workers, and other perinatal healthcare professionals.

Learning Outcome: At the conclusion of the program, participants will self‑report increased knowledge of evidence‑informed, harm‑reduction, and trauma‑informed approaches to supporting lactation among parents affected by SUDs.

Continuing Nursing Education Contact Hours: This program has been awarded 1.0 contact hours.
